Dr. Lizmar Burguera

Dr. Lizmar Burguera is a bilingual Licensed Psychologist who specializes in Neuropsychology. She conducts comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations in English and Spanish to diagnose and develop effective plans of care and recovery for individuals with neurodevelopmental, genetic, and neurological conditions, such as epilepsy and traumatic brain injury. Dr. Burguera also has specialty training and extensive experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and learning disabilities. She also provides psychotherapeutic services for children and their families to help them overcome a variety of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, social skills deficits, and adjustment to medical conditions, such as spinal cord injury, multiple orthopaedic trauma, amputation, cancer, and brain injury. Dr. Burguera completed her predoctoral internship in Neuropsychology at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Miami, Florida. She completed two years of post-doctoral speciality training in Neuropsychology at The Watson Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where she holds an appointment as a Voluntary Assistant Professor. At the University of Miami, she is actively involved in the training of medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows. She is a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, the International Neuropsychological Society, and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Burguera sees patients in the South Miami and Aventura offices.
