Supporting Emotional Wellness from Preconception to Parenthood
Pregnancy and postpartum are times of profound transformation. While it is often described as a joyful time, many mothers quietly struggle. Whether you are navigating your first pregnancy, growing your family, or trying to feel more like yourself again, you are not alone, and your mental health deserves expert, compassionate support.

Why Perinatal Mental Health Matters
- 1 in 5 women experience a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD).
- PMADs are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth.
- Over 50% of those affected are never identified or diagnosed.
- Less than 25% of women receive mental health treatment.
Is This Expected… or Something More?
Pregnancy, birth, and parenting ask a lot of your body and mind. Feeling tired, emotional, or overwhelmed is completely expected. If those feelings start to take over and keep you from the life you desire and deserve, it might be a sign that you could use some extra support. Here are some signs to watch for:
- Persistent sadness or numbness
- Overwhelm that feels constant or unmanageable
- Racing thoughts, panic, or intrusive fears
- Guilt or shame that drains your energy even more

Perinatal Psychotherapy
Our services are tailored to support the mental health needs that often arise during this transformative time, including:
- Perinatal Anxiety and Depression
- Birth Trauma and Medical PTSD
- Postpartum OCD or Intrusive Thoughts
- Identity Shifts and Adjustment to New Roles
- Grief and Loss
- Relationship Stress and Communication Difficulties
We are deeply committed to providing exceptional perinatal mental health care grounded in three core values: evidence-based treatment, individualized support, and whole-person care.
Thrive Sessions:
Proactive Wellness Consultations
You deserve support not just when you are struggling. Your journey into motherhood should be more than survival. It should be an opportunity to thrive. Thrive Sessions help anticipate challenges before they arise, so you can feel more grounded and confident in your motherhood journey.
Thrive Sessions are a structured, highly personalized, and short-term model unique to the perinatal period (from conception through the first year postpartum). They combine educational and practical tools focused on the challenges of early motherhood. You will learn to anticipate and prepare for the emotional shifts that often accompany early motherhood, while developing skills to build emotional resilience. You will strengthen your bond with your baby and support system, explore changes in identity and relationships, and learn to navigate the challenges of postpartum life with more confidence and clarity. We will also focus on optimizing your physical wellness even when rest and self-care feel out of reach. Sessions will be held in a safe, compassionate space where you feel seen, heard, and truly supported.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is recommended to begin therapy during the third trimester as a proactive step in preparing for the postpartum period. Starting at this stage allows time to build a trusting relationship with your provider and explore coping tools before the demands of motherhood set in. That said, therapy can be beneficial at any point before or after birth, and it is never too late to seek support.
Thrive Sessions are structured sessions designed to be educational and preparation-focused as opposed to more traditional perinatal psychotherapy. These sessions focus on topics like postpartum planning, identity shifts, relationship dynamics, and coping strategies, equipping you with concrete tools and guidance to navigate this unique stage with confidence. They are ideal for expectant mothers who want to feel informed, supported, and emotionally prepared for what is ahead.
While we do recommend scheduling sessions in alignment with the recommended developmental periods of the postpartum stage (e.g., third trimester, 2 weeks, 5 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks postpartum), scheduling is flexible and can be tailored to your circumstances. We understand that birth and recovery can be unpredictable, and we will adjust as needed to accommodate changes in your postpartum experience.
With your permission, we are happy to collaborate with your other providers, including OB-GYN, midwife, doula, lactation consultant, therapists, or any other care providers to ensure integrated support during your journey.
While our meetings are centered on supporting you, sessions related to communication, support dynamics, or preparing together for parenthood, partners are welcome to join. We will tailor involvement based on your preferences and needs.
Yes. Babies are welcome, especially in the early postpartum period when separation may be difficult. Sessions are designed to be supportive of your real-life parenting experience.
