Lauren A. Carbonell, PsyD, PMH-C

Dr. Lauren Carbonell is a Florida Licensed Psychologist with over a decade of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She has advanced specialty training in perinatal mental health and is a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (PMH-C). Dr. Carbonell is also PSYPACT authorized, allowing her to provide telepsychology services to patients located in participating PSYPACT states.

Dr. Carbonell believes that lasting change occurs when individuals and families feel understood, gain insight into the needs that shape behavior, and learn skills to develop healthier ways of responding. Through a developmentally informed, relationship-based approach, she partners with individuals and families to identify the underlying factors that contribute to emotional and behavioral patterns, strengthen connection, and develop practical strategies and skills that promote meaningful change. When working with adolescents and adults, she integrates the same thoughtful, evidence-based approach to help individuals gain insight, develop resilience, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence. Dr. Carbonell views parents and caregivers as essential partners in the therapeutic process, helping them better understand their child’s emotional and developmental needs while building confidence to generalize skills and respond more effectively.

Dr. Carbonell provides treatment for anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), ADHD, Autism and other neurodevelopmental differences, emotional regulation challenges, behavioral and social difficulties, depression, life transitions, parenting unease, and perinatal mental health conditions. Treatment is individualized and thoughtfully integrates cognitive behavioral, behavioral, play-based, and parent-focused interventions to meet each individual’s unique developmental needs and treatment goals.

Dr. Carbonell has a deep appreciation for the emotional complexity of parenthood and is especially passionate about supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition into motherhood. She provides compassionate, evidence-based care for concerns including perinatal anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, identity changes, parenting stress, and the emotional challenges that can accompany this stage of life.

Dr. Carbonell earned her master’s and doctoral degrees from Nova Southeastern University and completed her APA-accredited internship at The May Institute and The National Autism Center. She completed her postdoctoral residency at Pediatric Psychology Associates, where she continues to provide therapy, consultation, and evaluations. She also provides supervision to doctoral and master’s-level trainees and has presented throughout the community on various topics related to child development, parenting, and maternal mental health.
