Lizmar Burguera, PsyD

Dr. Lizmar Burguera is a bilingual (English and Spanish) licensed clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology, with over 12 years of experience in the field. She has expertise in providing neuropsychological assessments, as well as psychoeducational and gifted evaluations. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and emphasizes the importance of empathy and connection. She is dedicated to developing tailored treatment plans that honor brain-based differences and promote well-being for individuals with neurodevelopmental (ADHD, autism, learning differences), medical factors, and mood and anxiety concerns. By actively collaborating with parents, schools, and other professionals throughout the assessment process, she adopts a holistic and strengths-based approach customized to each individual’s needs, helping them understand their unique strengths and abilities.

Dr. Burguera completed her predoctoral internship in neuropsychology at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Miami, Florida, where she provided care and consultation across Neurology and Behavioral Medicine, working alongside specialists in psychiatry, neurology, oncology, and pain management. She then completed two years of postdoctoral specialty training in neuropsychology. During her first year of fellowship, she trained at The Watson Institute and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she gained extensive experience conducting pediatric neuropsychological evaluations. For her second year of residency, she trained at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where she conducted neuropsychological assessments as part of an interdisciplinary team. Additionally, Dr. Burguera is trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent-focused treatment model designed to assist children and adolescents in navigating anxiety, OCD, and related concerns. She has also served as the chair of early career practitioners for the Florida Psychological Association. Dr. Burguera currently provides services from the South Miami location, both in-office and via telehealth. Outside of her practice, Dr. Burguera enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and her dog, Luna.
