Julia Martinez, M.S., LMHC

Julia Martinez, M.S., is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.  She received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University (FIU). While pursuing her degree at FIU, Ms. Martinez completed her practicum and internship at Pediatric Psychology Associates, where she helped facilitate the Social Understanding and Relationship Fundamentals (SURF) groups, provided consultations at the headache clinic in collaboration with a medical neurology practice, and offered cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for individuals with chronic headache pain as well as anxiety-based disorders.  Ms. Martinez was also a full-time Clinical Assessment Therapist (CAT) at the Kristi House, a non-profit agency for children and adolescents who have endured abuse and trauma, where she provides biopsychosocial assessments and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to children and adolescents with histories of abuse and complex trauma. Ms. Martinez is also a certified and registered Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.

 

Her populations of interest include individuals with autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, child sexual abuse, trauma, depression, social-emotional challenges, and providing sexual education to children, teens, and adults. She co-facilitates SURF Group programs in South Miami. Additionally, Ms. Martinez also provides individual therapy to clients with internalizing disorders, social skills deficits, and emotional regulation challenges. She works out of the South Miami office and provides services both in-person and via telehealth.
