Isabel Hernandez, M.S., LMHC

Isabel Hernandez, MS, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University. While pursuing her degree, Ms. Hernandez completed her practicum and internship at Pediatric Psychology Associates, where she assisted with the facilitation of the Social Understanding and Relationship Fundamentals (SURF) groups and PEERS Teens Program. In addition to the group program, she has provided individual therapy and executive functioning support to patients of various ages.  Ms. Hernandez has clinical experience providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy as a Registered Behavior Technician. Her populations of interest include individuals with autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, ADHD, ODD, anxiety, as well as individuals presenting with social, behavioral, and executive functioning challenges. Ms. Hernandez also has experience working with nonverbal clients and implementing ABA techniques to teach functional communication training and reduce challenging and self-injurious behaviors in children with ASD and other disorders. She is the lead facilitator of the SURF Group program in Aventura and co-facilitator in South Miami, as well as the summer camps and intensive PEERS Programs for Teens and Young Adults in Aventura and South Miami. Ms. Hernandez also provides individual therapy to clients with emotional regulation challenges, social skills deficits, and behavioral difficulties.
