Alexis Bitting, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified Sex Therapist. She has specialized experience working with children, teens, and adults with social and developmental delays, including autism spectrum disorders, Asperger’s, ADHD, non-verbal learning, and other challenges. Ms. Bitting utilizes a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary approach when working with clients and their families. She also provides school observations, consultation, and individual and group therapy focused on emotional, social, and behavioral issues. This often includes social skills, anxiety, depression, anger management, interpersonal relationships, emotion regulation, etc. Ms. Bitting has worked for the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) for the past 6 years and has over 10 years of experience working in therapeutic settings. Through her work at CARD, she has focused on supporting and enhancing professionals in the community to better serve individuals with autism and their families by providing in-depth consultation and training. Ms. Bitting is currently obtaining her PhD in Clinical Sexology so as to create more opportunities for appropriate sexuality education for social and developmental challenges. In April 2017, Ms. Bitting was the lead presenter at Baptist Health South Florida’s 15th Annual Autism Spectrum Disorders Conference on the Importance of Social Skills Training for Individuals with ASD and Mental Health and Sexuality across the Autism Spectrum. Ms. Bitting is a member of the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association. She is based out of the Coral Gables office and facilitates our Social Understanding Group Program, as well as provides individual and family therapy.
