Pediatric Psychology Associates, operates under strict adherence to the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association guidelines. The fact that you have contacted us at all is confidential and all of the information you provide about you and your family at every step is wholly confidential. This means that we would not release any information about you or your family, by any means (e.g., telephone, letter) to anyone, including your physician, others in the community, or other family members, without written permission from you. There are some exceptions to this:

1. There are exceptional circumstances under which, by law, we must share information about you and your family with people outside of our office. Please note that all health care providers are bound by the same laws. By law, we much break confidentiality if:

You or your child clearly poses a physical danger to yourself or someone else;
You or your child provides us with any information that suggests that physical or sexual abuse has occurred in the past, is currently occurring, or is at-risk for abuse in the future;
You or your child reveals that one of you has been sexually abused by a member of a profession, or
If our records on you or your child are subpoenaed by the courts.

2. By choosing to use your insurance company for psychological services, we are required to release certain information to the insurance company, at their request. Information which may be requested includes type of services, dates and times of services, diagnoses, treatment plan, description of impairment, progress of therapy, case notes, and summaries. This information has already been provided to you through our HIPPA consent forms.

3. Information about clients may be disclosed in consultation with other professionals in order to provide the best possible treatment for you and your family. In such cases, neither your name, the name of your family member, nor any other identifying information is disclosed. Only clinical information about the client is discussed.
